Dry eastern Europe; unsettled Scandinavia

Friday
Low pressure centred west of Iberia brings prolonged heavy rain to Portugal and south-western Spain. Dry with sunshine for east & northern Spain, plus the Balearics, highs 16C. Thunderstorms affect Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and southern mainland Italy. Areas of thundery rain also affect the Balkan coast, plus northern Italy toward the Alps. Warm and sunny for Greece and areas around the Black Sea.
High pressure extends across north-western Europe, promoting a brisk easterly wind across Germany and the Low Countries, feeling cool at 5 to 7C, although staying dry. Breezy but dry too for northern France, whilst outbreaks of rain affect central and southern areas. Dry weather extends across much of eastern Europe, although a weak front across Ukraine and Slovakia brings a band of cloud and patchy rain or snow. Fair in Denmark, but blustery winds across Norway and Sweden bring some persistent rain and snow, heaviest in the far west. Dry most of the day in Finland, but snow will develop from the west later, turning to rain overnight.

Saturday
Staying unsettled for Spain and Portugal, with heavy, thundery rain most persistent toward the south-west, but areas of rain also extending to north-eastern areas. Dry across much of Italy, France and the Alps, although a few showers are possible in northern Italy. Thunderstorms affect the Balkan coastline, and spread to mainland Greece. Dry for the Greek islands. Plenty of sunshine for Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.
Staying dry but chilly across Germany and the Low Countries, temperatures 5C, but some sunshine. Cloudy for southern Germany and the Czech Republic, possible fog. Low pressure centred over Finland brings windy and unsettled conditions to much of Scandinavia. Gales in Norway, and frequent snow showers will spread from the north. Drier in Sweden, and relatively mild in the south at 8C. Showers will affect the Baltic states.
