Thundery showers in central and southern Europe, drier to the north

Tuesday
A swathe of thunderstorms across central Europe, affecting northern Spain, much of France and the Alps. Scattered thundery showers are also possible for central Italy, the Balkans and around the Carpathian mountains of northern Romania and southern Poland, also Slovakia.
Meanwhile, the Mediterranean will be dry and sunny, with fair weather also for southern Spain and much of Portugal. Temperatures widely nearing 30C. Northern Europe will be generally dry, with most of Germany and the Low Countries due to be dry and bright. Fresher than recently for most of Scandinavia, but still into the 20s Celsius across southern Sweden and Norway. A few showers toward the far north, and a north-westerly breeze affects the Baltic.

Wednesday
Torrential thunderstorms in northern and eastern Spain. Portugal has scattered afternoon showers but should be mostly dry. Isolated thunderstorms in the Balearics, but mostly dry and sunny. Thunderstorms will be developing over the northern half of Italy, but drier to the south. Greece should be dry and hot and Turkey will be hot but with isolated storms.
Widespread torrential thunderstorms affecting France with the risk of some flooding in places. Some storms could drift into the Low Countries as well as southern Germany but on the whole it should be dry with sunny spells here. Heavy showers and thunderstorms in southern Poland, Austria and Switzerland, although drier to the north.
High pressure brings a fair day to Denmark and most of Norway. Sweden should be dry with further periods of sunshine. A cool day with sunny spells and dry in the Baltic States, whilst a few showers trouble Finland.
