Iberian heatwave continues


Sunday
High pressure lies across north-western Europe. Hot and sunny for France, Spain and Portugal. Topping 40C again for south-western Iberia, and widely into the mid-30s across central European countries. Less hot for the Low Countries and northern Germany, 25 to 28C, with a breeze from the North Sea. Thundery for Alpine regions, and also into Slovakia, plus the south & east of Poland.
Isolated thunderstorms for southern Italy and the Mediterranean islands. Sunny for Greece , highs 29 to 32C. Lots of dry weather for the Balkans and areas surrounding the Black Sea. Low pressure resides over north-west Russia. Showery for the Baltic states, and some rain affects northern Scandinavia. Fresher across northern Europe; bright and breezy for southern Norway and Denmark. Highs 25C for southern Sweden & Finland.


Monday
Slack high pressure continues to influence much of Europe, with ongoing hot and dry weather for many countries. Temperatures into the 40s again for southern Spain and Portugal. Mid-30s for France and Italy. A risk of thunderstorms again for the Alps, and locally over the Pyrenees. A few thunderstorms also for the mountains of Romania. Lots of sunshine for the Mediterranean, including Greece and the Aegean Sea.
Warm and sunny for the Low Countries and Germany, 29 to 32C. Less hot for Poland, 24 to 29C, highest temperatures in the west. Cloudy with rain or drizzle for south-west Norway. Showery rain for Finland and northern Sweden, but much of Sweden should be dry. Fresher air across Scandinavia than recently, 16 to 22C, locally 24C around the southern Baltic.
