Drier southern Europe

Thursday
Rain affects northwestern Spain and Portugal again, and extends widely across France on southwesterly winds. South and eastern Spain plus the far south of France should escape dry. Largely dry for Italy and the Balkans as a ridge of high pressure moves through here. Rain and snow for Turkey beneath low pressure.
Northern Europe stays breezy and fairly mild, with areas of rain for northern Germany, Denmark and into Poland. Drier for central eastern Europe across the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary. Areas of rain for southern Norway and Sweden, with some persistent snow for northern Sweden and Finland.

Friday
High pressure over southern Spain and the Mediterranean brings generally dry conditions tou southern Europe. A few showers possible in western Italy. Frontal rain moves into northwest Spain and Portugal again on brisk southwesterly winds. Rain and drizzle also extends across central France and southern Germany. Patchy rain or snow for the Alps. Heavier rain and strong winds moves east across eastern Europe, from Poland into Ukraine and Romania.
Mainly dry but fairly cloudy for the Low Countries and northern Germany. Southwesterly winds bring mild air to Scandinavia, with heavy rain in the western Norway. Rain extends across Denmark and Sweden later. Areas of rain and sleet for northern Sweden. Mostly dry for the Baltic coasts.
