The Kali Andhi, or black storm is a violent, squally dust storm occuring in late spring in north-western
India. The Andhi heralds the imminent arrival of the monsoon. It may quickly build up out of the blue, transforming the dry hot afternoon into a dark brown mush. The assault of the Andhi usually lasts only a few minutes, before the tropical monsoon rain washes the dust out of the atmosphere.
