Strong winds northern Europe; snow for Scandinavia


Wednesday
Dry and warm across much of Iberia, temperatures reaching 20C in southern Portugal, whilst local showers may break out for southern Spain later. Plenty of sunshine across the Mediterranean. Small risk of a shower for western Italy. Largely dry and mild for the Alps and Balkans. Dry and mild for most of France, although a strong breeze affects the north.
A rapidly moving frontal system sweeps across northern Europe, bringing heavy rain to northern Germany, spreading east across Poland, and into the Baltic states through the day. Gale force winds for many North Sea and Baltic coasts. Rain should clear from Denmark, followed by showers. Rain on and off across the Low Countries all day. Widespread snow is likely across Sweden, although mostly turning to rain in the south. Persistent rain and snow for western Norway. Snow develops in Finland later. Northern Scandinavia stays cold.


Thursday
Dry weather will extend across much of southern Europe, although areas of thundery showers are possible for southern Spain. Staying dry in Portugal and areas surrounding Biscay. Plenty of sunshine for Italy and Greece . Generally mild across south-eastern Europe. Cloudy and mild for Alpine regions, but largely dry.
Another area of low pressure moves quickly across northern Europe, bringing a risk of gales or severe gales to the Low Countries, later northern Germany. Rain affects areas from northern France to Poland, including Denmark. Much of Scandinavia will be dry and bright, although snow showers affect northern areas, particularly Finland.
